Caustic Flake (Sodium hydroxide) is an aggressive alkali used for a variety of applications:
Drain pipe cleaner
Unblocking sinks, shower traps and pipes
Degreasing of floors, ovens and other surfaces
Cleaning of burned or blackened pots
Sanitizing dustbins, kennels, stables, patios, driveways
Increasing the pH in water treatment
Making soaps and detergents.
Paint stripping.
Sodium hydroxode is potentially harmful and can severly burn eyes, skin and nasal membranes. The dissolution of caustic in water is an exothermic reaction and produces heat. Always take care to:
Wear appropriate safety clothing; safety glasses, footwear and gloves.
Always add caustic flake to water and never add the water to the caustic flake.
Use cold water, never hot water.
Store out of reach of children and animals.
Store in an air tight container.
Directions for cleaning:
Add 1-2tablespoons to 5L water
Scrub area with solution
Rinse with water (or a mild vinegar solution)
